Vision Screening

As part of its ongoing community service initiatives, Rotary Club of Sibsagar organized a Vision Screening Camp at Lakhinath Bezbarua Shishu Bhavan on 27 May. A total of 150 students were screened. Identified eye problems are being treated free of cost at Netrajyoti Hospital. Dr. Biman Saikia, Rotarian, served as the resource person. Ten club members participated.

Shakti Sankalp Safar

The Rotary Club of Sibsagar proudly felicitated Rtn. Pappu Ram Choudhary for his inspiring Pan-India Cycling Expedition titled “Shakti Sankalp Safar.” The expedition symbolizes dedication towards environmental sustainability, a drug-free India, and promotion of fitness and healthy living. Through this remarkable journey, he aims to spread awareness and motivate communities across the nation toward positive social change. The club appreciated his unwavering commitment, courage, and spirit of service, recognizing the expedition as a meaningful initiative aligned with Rotary ideals. President Rtn. Manab Kr. Baruah and Secretary Rtn. Dr. Anjana Sarmah conveyed their best wishes for the success of his mission.

Classical Musical Concert

The Rotary Club of Sibsagar, in collaboration with Madhuwanti and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Parishad, organized a memorable musical evening at Sivasagar filled with warmth, melody, and fellowship. The event brought together renowned artists and distinguished personalities including Pt. Bidyut Misra, Santanu Biswas, Dibyajyoti Changmai, Devojit Goswami, Monalisa Das, and Bipasa Barman, creating an atmosphere of cultural harmony and artistic excellence. The program reflected Rotary’s commitment to promoting culture, community bonding, and meaningful social engagement. Special appreciation was extended to Rubul Hazarika, Ritu, and Rtn. Dr. Anjana Sarmah for their gracious support in making the evening truly memorable.

Smart Class Installation

During the District Governor’s Official Visit, Rtn. Dr. Kameswar Singh Elangbam visited the Smart Class Project at Government M.V. School, established by the Rotary Club of Sibsagar with support from The Rotary Foundation District Grant. The District Governor inspected the digital learning facilities and appreciated the club’s initiative in promoting modern education and technology-based learning among students. He interacted warmly with teachers and students, encouraging them to make the best use of the smart classroom for academic growth and skill development. Teachers expressed gratitude for the project, while students enthusiastically shared their learning experiences, making the visit inspiring and memorable for everyone present.

Vocational award

The Rotary Club of Sibsagar proudly honoured vocational awardee Dipali Jain during the District Governor’s visit in recognition of her remarkable contribution to “Srijani,” the club’s women empowerment and vocational training initiative. Her dedication has inspired and supported many underprivileged women in gaining livelihood skills through cutting and stitching training. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dipali Jain also played a vital role in preparing and distributing three-layered protective masks through the “Mukhus” initiative of RC Sibsagar, contributing significantly to community health and safety. Her selfless service, commitment, and compassion truly reflect the spirit of Rotary’s vocational and humanitarian service ideals.

Srijani Visit of DG

During the District Governor’s Official Visit, Rtn. Dr. Kameswar Singh Elangbam visited “Srijani,” the vocational training centre of the Rotary Club of Sibsagar dedicated to empowering underprivileged women through cutting and stitching training. The District Governor interacted with the trainees, instructors, and club members, appreciating the initiative for promoting self-reliance and livelihood opportunities among women. He encouraged the participants to continue developing their skills with confidence and determination. Certificates were distributed to successful trainees in recognition of their dedication and achievement. The occasion reflected Rotary’s commitment to vocational service, women empowerment, and sustainable community development through meaningful skill-based education initiatives.

RYLA Participation

The Rotary Club of Sibsagar proudly participated in the District RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) programme held at Dibrugarh by sponsoring three young candidates. The initiative aimed to nurture leadership qualities, personality development, teamwork, and social responsibility among youth. Through participation in interactive sessions and motivational activities, the candidates gained valuable exposure and confidence. RC Sibsagar remains committed to empowering the younger generation and supporting Rotary’s vision of developing future leaders through meaningful youth engagement programs.

Celebration of Achievements of Rotarylets

During the District Governor’s Official Visit of Rotary Club of Sibsagar, members joyfully celebrated the outstanding CBSE achievement of Arshita, granddaughter of Rtn. Beenapani Hazarika and daughter of Dr. Nayan Jyoti Das, who secured an impressive 97.8%. The occasion was marked with cake cutting and warm congratulations, reflecting Rotary’s spirit of fellowship, encouragement, and pride in academic excellence among the younger generation.

This program aims to empower economically vulnerable women with livelihood opportunities, enhancing confidence, independence, and future employability through structured hands-on training and continuous mentorship.

The Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, Brahma Kumaris, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, felicitated the Rotary Club of Sibsagar on 10th October at Sibsagar for its dedicated community service. Awareness Talk on Menstrual disorders

An awareness talk on menstrual disorders in adolescent women was organized at Sibsagar University, featuring Rotarian Dr. Lalit Bora as the resource speaker. The session highlighted menstrual health, hygiene, and early identification of common disorders, encouraging open discussion and better understanding among young women for improved reproductive health and wellbeing.

Nation Builder award

Rotary Club of Sibsagar presented the Nation Builder Award to Juthika Chetia and Lipa Das in recognition of their outstanding dedication and contribution to the field of education. The club acknowledged their efforts in shaping young minds and fostering excellence in teaching within the community.

Distribution of umbrella in 3 schools

Umbrellas were distributed to students of 2 No. Town LP School, Sibsagar Government MV School, and 3 No. LP School as part of a community welfare initiative. The program aimed to help children attend school comfortably during the rainy season and promote health, safety, and regular school attendance.

Food distribution at old age home

On Independence Day, the Rotary Club of Sibsagar organized a Food Distribution program at a local old age home, sharing meals with the residents. The initiative reflected the spirit of care, compassion, and service, bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of togetherness to the elderly on this special occasion.

The tricolor was saluted with pride, fostering unity, patriotism, and fellowship. Sharing breakfast afterward symbolized togetherness and service, making the celebration truly meaningful and memorable.

Vision Screening Camp

The Rotary Club of Sibsagar organized a Vision Screening Camp along with public awareness camp on 29th August at Lakhinath Bezbaruah School, screening the eyesight of 150 children below 5 years. As part of an ongoing project, the initiative aimed to ensure early detection of vision problems and promote awareness about eye health in young children.

Hearing Screening Camp

The Rotary Club organized a Hearing Screening Camp on 13th–14th August 2025 at the Rotary Community Centre, providing 100 free hearing tests. The initiative focused on early detection of hearing issues, counselling on ear care, and spreading awareness about hearing health, ensuring better quality of life for the community.

District grant : Smart Class Installation

The Rotary Club of Sibsagar installed a Smart Class at Government M.V. School on 28th July 2025 under a Rotary District Grant. This initiative aims to enhance digital learning opportunities for students, providing them with modern tools and interactive resources to improve classroom engagement and academic outcomes. The project reflects Rotary’s commitment to supporting education and empowering the next generation with skills for the future.

Family Meet

The Installation Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Sibsagar on 5th July 2025 was more than an official function—it was a celebration of fellowship and family spirit, brought alive by the vibrant participation of the Rotarylets. Their musical and dance performances, including soulful songs by Aanushmita and a graceful choreography by Srikriti Bordoloi, won admiration and applause. The Rotarylets, children and grandchildren of Rotarians, infused the evening with color, creativity, and youthful energy, highlighting Rotary’s intergenerational strength. The event also became a true “Family Meet,” with Annes, children, and extended families sharing joy, conversations, and togetherness. The presence of the Rotarylets reminded all that Rotary is not just an organization but a family in action, where every member, regardless of age, has a role and a voice.

HPV Vaccination camp

On 13th July 2025, an HPV vaccination camp was held at the Immunization Centre, Sivasagar Old Hospital building. It was organized by Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Trust, Dibrugarh in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and FOGSI, with active support from the Rotary Club of Sivasagar, which made all necessary arrangements. The Office of the Joint Director of Health, Sivasagar District permitted the use of the centre, while Health Department staff and nurses assisted in conducting the camp. Present were Panna Bharali, Dr. Bandana Gupta Sarma, Padum Poona Baruah, Dipika Dutta Bordoloi, Surjit Changmai, Utpala Shrutikor Baruah, Ajanta Gogoi Das, Dipa Das, Dr. Bina Das, Dr. Dipamoni Hazarika, Dr. Ranjit Hazarika, Dr. Rajib Baruah, Dr. Anjana Sarma, along with Health Department staff. A total of 59 girls received their first HPV vaccine dose.

Srijani: Empowering Women

Srijani, a vocational cutting and stitching institute established by the Rotary Club of Sibsagar in 2008 with Rotary District Grant support, empowers women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families with livelihood skills. Starting with 8 sewing machines and a handful of learners, it has grown to 16 machines, expanding its reach and impact. The institute offers a 4‑month training course in basic cutting and tailoring, conducted by experienced instructors. On completion, participants receive certificates, boosting their employability and confidence. To further support self-reliance, the club has donated 4 sewing machines to outstanding trainees, enabling them to begin home-based tailoring units. Srijani stands as a model of vocational empowerment, community development, and women-led progress—reflecting Rotary’s commitment to service and dignity.

Felicitation of rotarylets

During the Installation Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Sibsagar on 5th July 2025, newly inducted President Rtn. Manab Baruah felicitated the Rotarylets for their commendable contributions in 2024–25. He praised their energy, creativity, and commitment, noting that they are not only the future of Rotary but also changemakers of today. Their involvement in cultural events, social initiatives, and awareness campaigns was highly appreciated. Each Rotarylet received certificates and mementoes as tokens of recognition. The audience was delighted by their musical and dance performances, which added vibrancy to the evening. President Baruah emphasized youth engagement as a key priority and encouraged senior members to mentor and support Rotarylets in upholding the spirit of service and fellowship.

Project: Motivational Talk

Dr. Bhaskar Borah, a respected physician from Assam, inspires lives beyond medicine as a motivational speaker and writer. His speeches, woven with personal stories, values, and wisdom, have guided students, professionals, and communities. Through writings on resilience, ethics, and mindfulness, he encourages self-discovery and compassion. RC Sibsagar was privileged to host him at the recent installation ceremony, where his words left a lasting impact.
